You know, the native ipchains stuff in 2.2 kernels is perfectly adequate 
for that purpose.  You put a second NIC in your Linux box, change a few
kernel options, and run some ipchains statement at boot time.  Just
follow the directions in the IP Masquerading HOWTO.

There are somewhat different tools for 2.3+ kernels.
