Yes, IF you had your MUA configured to auto-execute (perhaps after a
query) such perl scripts.  Few to none do of course as such active
content is not popular in the *ix world.  Further, such damage would
be limited to the resources and files youur account had access to,
not the system entire (unless you were root).
