[svlug] Slackware-7.0 and stair stepping

Hello Family,
	Customer calls with Slackware-7.0, ironically running the
same network printer I'm using so I take some topology info, make 
sure he can ping the printer via the network so I can 'assume'
(gawd I hate that word) and when he had time to call back I had
Slackware-7.0 installed displaying the same stairstepping. I then
installed the 'enscript' package that cured my stairstepping but not
his.

	The customer was insisting on using the apsfilter that was
there on his Slackware disto but the docs seem to make clear that
it's not suited for network printing in setup anyway.

	I'm not having much luck tonight here at home finding any
blantant hacks for the issue, any help would be appreciated.
