I posted this same assertion to this list a couple months ago,
and someone sent me this page about how to get on a service
called "FreeWWWeb" with Linux.  Apparently, they simply require
that clients hit a web page of theirs every so often.

If you get it to work, I'm sure someone on the list will be happy
to explain wget and cron.
