[svlug] klogd uses 30% to 60% CPU all the time?

I noticed that klogd uses a lot of CPU cycles:

  3:03pm up 13:33, 3 users, load average: 2.93, 2.56, 2.13
59 processes: 54 sleeping, 5 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 82.5% user, 17.5% system, 0.0% nice, 0.0% idle
Mem: 79704K av, 70324K used, 9380K free, 27596K shrd, 1636K buff
Swap: 243104K av, 160448K used, 82656K free 23708K
cached

  any ideas why?

I check the files in /var/log and all are fairly short (max few
pages/screens for today and yesterday), I am not sure where the klogd
writes the logs (it's ran without arguments so all messages end up in
syslog?). it doesn't look like it's busy writing anything (the disk is
not busy).

my system: debian unstable, kernel 2.2.14

  this might be related:

jojda:~>top
{__delay} {strnicmp}
Warning: /usr/src/linux/System.map does not match kernel data.

  after these messages top runs...

I run the kernel that was compiled using source in /usr/src/linux, but
I have recompiled since changing some config params (modules), and I
didn't reinstall kernel, just the modules. everything seems to be
working, except of these messages here and there (i think I've seen the
same message som place else). any ideas on this one?

  TIA

	erik
