[svlug] Window Manager question. Was StarOffice to be GPL'd

Right now I am not starting flamewars (I hope) and not really doing an
opinion poll either, but I would like to know something.

Has anybody been able to run KDE on top of of a different window manager ?
EG. Instead of KWM say run it on top of sawmill or something, I know gnome
can do this, at least I know that there are severall supported wm's I would
be lying if I said I was certain it could use any wm. If KDE can run on
something else, how would one do this ?

Related question, is it possible hide you KDE desktop icons ? Deleting the
files, or sticking a . in front causes new ones to be created.
