My ISP wenet.net has reciently upgraded something and they no longer
sends me a valid remote ip address.

This causes pppd to hang-up.

>From my debug file for PPPD I get a remote ip = 0.0.0.0 from wenet.net
and after a short time the modem hangs up;

Jul  2 04:40:19 1Cust194 pppd[15673]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr
0.0.0.0>]
Jul  2 04:40:19 1Cust194 pppd[15673]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1
<compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 0.0.0.0>]
Jul  2 04:40:19 1Cust194 pppd[15673]: sent [IPCP ConfRej id=0x1
<compress VJ 0f 00> <addr 0.0.0.0>]
Jul  2 04:40:19 1Cust194 pppd[15673]: rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <addr
206.169.249.3>]
Jul  2 04:40:19 1Cust194 pppd[15673]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr
206.169.249.3>]

What they used to do is send me a valid ip address like this connection
below shows a remote ip =206.115.155.46
and for this isp the ppp connection works fine;

Jul  2 04:49:58 1Cust194 pppd[15740]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr
0.0.0.0>]
Jul  2 04:49:58 1Cust194 pppd[15740]: rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1
<compress VJ 0f 01> <addr 206.115.155.46>]
Jul  2 04:49:58 1Cust194 pppd[15740]: sent [IPCP ConfRej id=0x1
<compress VJ 0f 01>]
Jul  2 04:49:58 1Cust194 pppd[15740]: rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <addr
63.11.175.241>]
Jul  2 04:49:58 1Cust194 pppd[15740]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr
63.11.175.241>]

Could someone explain or direct me to further info on what to do about
the innovation where the remote ip is 0.0.0.0

They "wenet.net" say all is working fine on the their system. I suppose
they mean all windows box work fine.
They don't give tech support for linux but found it interesting I could
tell them they were not sending out a valid
remote system ip address. Do windows box making ppp connections not need

a valid remote ip address?

Thanks
