[svlug] Writing audio CDs to CD-R using dd

It is most decidedly NOT advisable. dd does no buffering or anything 
of the kind, so while (I suppose) in theory it _IS_ possible to do it 
that way, its not the way to go.

Best bet is to read the CD-Writing-HOWTO, as it covers this in great detail.
