That's all well and good, but the following quote
from http://www.sjmercury.com/breaking/headline2/014614.htm
did not inspire my confidence:



"In the process, the morning commute was snarled hopelessly.

Finally, at 8:45 a.m., a member of the police department's 
bomb squad took aim from a safe distance with a shotgun 
and pulverized the container.

Luckily there was nothing inside that caused it to explode, 
according to Officer Steve Dixon, police spokesman."



Yeesh! Maybe they need a better spokeperson.

On KGO radio this morning they discussed how some of
the bomb squad's equipment wasn't working. Funny, I
can't find mention of it now.
