Sorry if this was passed through here already. If you follow the link
below, the end of the article touches on an "Official Linux Port"
presumably for Sun hardware.

I'm sure linux had a bunch to to with their numbers. NT is 3,999$? Huh?

>Unix Growth Still Outpaces Win NT

>The most recent Dataquest survey of Unix and Windows NT
>Server market share shows Unix is not only keeping its lead,
>but also extending it.

>According to the market research company, Unix growth is
>accelerating and outpacing that of NT. Unix server usage
>grew 12.7 percent in the past two years, from a 36 percent
>market share in 1996 to 42.7 percent in the second quarter of
>this year. NT, by contrast, grew 6.5 percent, half the rate of
>Unix, from 9.7 percent in 1996 to 16.2 percent in 1998.

>NT, now 6 years old and in its third major revision, is still
>far behind the more mature Unix, according to Kim Brown,
>chief analyst with Dataquest, based in San Jose, Calif.

>NT has fallen behind Unix because it lacks the performance
>and scalability needed for heavy data-center work, as well as
>its ever-increasing price tag, Brown said. Windows NT
>Server Enterprise Edition, the high-end version of NT, costs
>$3,999 or more, making the OS almost as expensive as the
>hardware. By Andy Patrizio, TechWeb
