Nick -

The rumor is not true.

People start wild rumors every day. You can't believe everything you hear
on the Net. (It's worse than TV.) Usually most corporations will answer
to any speculation to say, "We won't comment on speculation", whether there's
any truth or not to the rumor.

However, this one's such a wild departure from reality... there would have
been riots if someone inside the company had suggested what's in that rumor.

You've seen recently people making up rumors about Linux too. I even pointed
out that you're a target once you're high profile... You've got to get used
to this stuff and be skeptical of rumors from the Net. It happens all the
time.

Cisco has its own embedded operating system that runs on the largest and
smallest routers and switches. It's called the Cisco Internetworking
Operating System (IOS) Software. Our development environment and engineering
staff are all Unix-based.

And we're hiring engineers in San Jose, Raleigh, Boston, and London. So now
you can guess why Cisco's recruiters show up when SVLUG meets at Cisco.
