I have the same problem with my wife's laptop.  There is a way to boot 
the install kernel / program from the CD.  look for a file called
autoboot.bat.  If you find you cannot run it from CD for whatever
reason, I have also copied it and all files which it thinks it nees to 
the hard drive, and run the one liner from there.
