and even if they have scrolled off the top of the buffer, some
distributions (redhat is the only one I know of, and then only at
version 5.1) are thoughful enough to put the command `dmesg >
/var/log/dmesg` somewhere in their startup scripts.
What does this mean for you? Look in /var/log/dmesg for your boot
information, even well after a boot.
