It used to run in 2MB, but apparently never since 2.0.

The most interesting current minimalist i386 distribution is the Linux
Router Project, which you can also use for other things, and which fits on
one floppy and might run in 4 MB or so.  (I used to run Linux on a machine
with 4 MB from a hard drive; that works fine, although if you want a
mainstream distribution to install in 4 MB, you'll need to use Slackware.
The big question is generally whether you can run it from a floppy.)
