[svlug] PPP connection

wedacruz confessed:

>I can't setup my PPP connection on my Linux box, so I use my Win* box for
>my e-mail. Sorry.

I was doing the same until I finally spent some time this weekend to get
the latest copy of Netscape up and running and setup the PPP connection.

Actually copied ppp.conf over from a working machine. But are there
any aids to setup PPP? I'm running Debian 2.0 and there is just
SOOOOo much stuff on their CD's. I'm not sure but it looks like
the cd set contains nearly everything that comes copylet or open
sourced.

Also PnP has been such a bother that I fell back to using a 14.4 modem
just to get a connection up. <The 14.4 modem port is set using header
pins rather than PnP.> But Is there such a thing as a 56 K modem
that isn't PnP? Otherwise I'm going to be forced into PnP just to
get a hi-speed modem.

Thanks
jonathan
