    mkdir /mnt/aux

A mount point is nothing more than a directory. I routinely mount the
/var/spool/mail directory of my gateway machine over that of the machine I
am using, so that I can get at the e-mail. I also create other
directories to mount the /home and /tmp directories of other machine onto
this machine so as to use programs and shuffle files back and forth. You
can create them anywhere.
