We can do links to them. We may need to arrange with VA Research for
much in the way of web site hosting, since our server is just a surplus
486 box. (Just in case anyone needed an example of how Linux brings old
hardware back to life, that 486 has survived the Slashdot Effect 4 times!)
VA has a web server specifically for hosting Open Source organizations
and user groups.

The only thing close to guidelines were the ideas I put in my e-mail
that suggested the student chapters. Once we put up a web page about it,
then we have guidelines. :-)

The ideas I submitted (which are now subject to any changes you want to
make as the Education Coordinator) were that on-campus student organizations
at high schools, junior colleges or universities in the Silicon Valley area
could be recognized as student chapters of SVLUG if...
* the purpose of the club is compatible with SVLUG (i.e. some kind of
  computer club or user group)
* they have at least 3 members who are SVLUG members (participants or
  list subscribers)
* they have at least one scheduled Linux-related event each month
(i.e. meeting, on-campus installfest, tutoring, etc.)

In return, we would agree to cooperate with them in these ways:
* list them as a chapter, and link to their web site if they have one
* consider their group's leaders to be part of SVLUG's volunteer organization
and our representatives at the school
* help promote their activities via the SVLUG mail lists and web site,
and encourage local volunteers to help them
* and allow them to call their club a student chapter of SVLUG
(We need a logo for this. :-)
