Well, I was going to just respond to each of
you that has congratulated me privately and
individually (off of the list). However, I'm going
to renege and just say this:

The reason I copied the officers list
(and not the general membership) is that
		this is marginally on-topic.

My "platform" for this election, and my
goal for BayLISA over the next two years
(my term) is the see that every SA in every
LI (Large installation) in the BA has
		at least *heard* of BayLISA.

I'm hoping to direct the SA's of LI's at SVLUG to
visit a BayLISA meeting over the next year.

Early in the history of Linux we experienced some
hostility from the traditional Unix establishment. Some of
that was deserved (most of it was misdirected --- the
hostility was towards PC's --- and Linux was just the
latest incarnation of that to them).

However, I think that practically all vestige of that
hostility is now gone. Certainly some individuals in
USENIX, SAGE, BayLISA, etc still "hate Linux" and/or
"hate PC's" (remind them that Linux runs on other
platforms). But an incumbent board member of BayLISA asked
me to run specifically because of my ties to the Linux
community. They officially want more of the Linux admins
	to join the fold.

(The cynics among us might say: "We laugh monkeyboys
--- Linux IS the mainstream UNIX now! MuaHaHaHa!"
but that would be rude ;)

So, please, if you have any interest in the administration
of large installations come join us as BayLISA.

For those that don't know and couldn't guess(!?!) the URL to
BayLISA is at http://www.baylisa.org (God, we Silicon Valley
Geeks get *all* the good DNS names, don't we!). They meet
at the TechMart by Great America on the third Thursday
of the month at ~7:00pm. (This month's speaker was
Eric Allman, who gave two excellent presentations:
``Life in a Startup'', and ``Writing Secure Software is
Hard, and Possibly Impossible'' Sorry y'all missed it).

BTW: The election was rigged. There were four openings
and five names on the ballot. One of the candidates was
	a reluctant incumbent. I didn't need a "shoe-in" 'cause
I, and David, Amol, and Bruce where all "shoo'd in."
	(There were write-in spots available).

Thanks for tolerating this (mildly off-topic) rambling
and thank you to each of you that as offered your
	congratulations and condolences.

	Also: No, Yes, Yes, No.

(No, I'm not done with the book.
Yes, I'm still working on it.
Yes, I'm beginning to hate the project.
No, my publisher hasn't hired a hit person, YET!)
