Hello Jonathan,

They are IDE ULTRA ATA. From the sounds of other people's responses for another $50 or so they know of similiar drives with longer warranties besides 30 days.

PLEASE keep in mind that these are RECYCLED drives either from excess or obsolete (some could be new but they are likely used) and I have been told that they every sector of the drives were tested by the their company and recertified. Sorry I cannot give out the company's name because they are NOT a RETAIL operation. I happen to know the owners sort of thing. Today I picked up 3 of them and the total with tax came out to $617.03 ( $205.67 each), I am keeping 2 and the other went to a friend. If anyone is interested let me know (there is now 14 left..maybe less). 

I think it would really cool if someone would not mind hosting a sort of SVLUG Swapmeet site (Does it exist already?). I cannot bear the idea of computer equipment getting tossed out or sitting in someone's closet collecting dust. If my wife would let me I would have 10 Linux boxes at home running all different types of Linux so I could learn about the finer details by having hands on experience with all of them. But then I would have to leave my job because I would be way too consumed to even think about work anymore.
