I heard an interesting angle from someone the other day. Some analyst
suggested that Gates WANTS Microsoft to be broken up. That is the only way
he can get his money out of it. Yeah, he is worth billions but if he tries
to get out, the stock plummits. If the govt. forces a split and a selloff
of certain parts, Gates can get at least some of his money out of the
beast. A breakup may be the only way he can turn paper profit into real
money and he may be acting blatently anti-competitive to force a
government break-up of Microsoft.
