Hello, folks.

I recently bought a notebook with S3 ViRGE/MX+ controller.
This particular controller seems to be very new. Manufacturer
documentation says S3 M5.

The laptop vendor says this is the S3 86C280 chip. He told me
that they have experienced returns on this model of laptop with
this controller because it is too new and Linux doesn't support it.
In fact, I can't even find this particular chip at http://www.s3.com

Latest XFree86 distribution seems to indicate that S3 ViRGE should
now be part of XF86_SVGA. I have tried that, but cannot get
it to come up.

Has anyone dealt with this 86C280 or any S3 ViRGE/MX+ chip?
What X server did you use? Any tricks for configuring server?
