Hello,
Well, I'm finally tired of all the hiss on my early-model SB16. I bought the
thing years ago when double-speed CD-ROMs were hitting mainstream, and it's a
big bulky, dusty mess of a card, with really bad line noise. I'm looking for
something new, that's cheap, well-supported, with low line-noise. I imagine
the SB64AWE Value fits this, no? I don't need IDE support on it (do they do
this anymore?), wave tables, down-loadable sounds, or anything too fancy. A
joystick port might be nice, but not necessary.
Oh, and I'm a poor college student 3000 miles from a Fry's ;).
As an aside, upon recent reflection, I've realized the only part on my machine
left from its original 486SX/25 glory is the floppy drive. Everything else has
been replaced or added from that original box... (sniff, sniff)
Thoughts appreciated,
m.
