[svlug] Linux kernel news...who know the happenings?

Guys,

Have you been keeping up with the latest on kernel development?
Is Linus working on 2.1.xxx in order to come out with 2.2 or is
this going to be more of a 3.0? Also, what is going into this
next release? Is it all just a bunch of SMP stuff, or will there
be more hardware support, sound, PNP, and etc etc...to fight the
M$ wars? In other words, what are we all anxiously waiting for
and expecting to see?

I'm thinking specifically about support for Promise Ultra
DMA cards, new devices like internal IDE zip drives, possibly
the 250Mb Zip Drive, scanners, CD burners, USB...etc Basically
all the devices that one could get to work now, but would need
patches on the 2.0.34 kernels. I haven't played with the 2.1
devel kernel...perhaps someone could share some insight.

Also, I heard somewhere that there was a mailing list that I
could join to follow the latest rumors about what is really
going on in Transmeta. From what I hear Transmeta has a new
chip technology (which is probably why Linus is there) that
can do everything Intel, Sun, HP, and IBM can do. This means
that the hardware might be able to take the wind out of Intel's
sails...and if the OS (Linux) can kick M$'s butt, then we'll
see the near-monopolistic power of Wintel begin to crumble.
Anyone know where that list is?
