Which, considering that the Web logs are within /var/log under 
essentially any directory-layout regime, is not an issue in this 
discussion.

Surely you're aware that this will work without those being
physically inside /home?  The "home" path is specified for each
user and pseudo-user in /etc/passwd, and can be anywhere.
