True.  I like to keep /var, or at least /var/log as its own
partition separate from user space due to the fact that log files
can grow uncontrollably and rapidly and I really dislike the idea
that JoeUser will get nailed because the web server gets
slashdotted.

<shrug> I like typing ~httpd, ~ftp, etc.  I particularly like the
fact that it makes those locations logical rather than physical.
Truth to tell I've created a small horde of other fake users (no
password etc) just for their path shortening advantages (eg ~src)
and am even now spreading that virus thru SGI.
