Right, if you launch a standalone queue runner at regular intervals, it
can help. Running sendmail -q10m will not! That just means that a single
queue runner will start again 10 minutes AFTER it finishes a run. Not that
a queue runner will start every 10 minutes! Using semdnail -q from cron
can help clean it up but there is a point of diminishing return if you
spawn too many, it can cause the system load to go up and cause you to
queue mail that might otherwise be delivered. Sendmail is just a good,
solid, simple, stupid mailer whose config file was designed by ancient
Egyptions.
