Correct, but if we can be SURE that compiling SMP fixes it, it narrows
down the code to look for. If SMP fixes it every time, they can look at
the changes and see what code affected UP only and find it. If going SMP
does not ALWAYS fix it, they need to look someplace else. So far, everyone
has reported the bug as a UP bug. I am testing an SMP kernel now to see if
that clears the problem. I should know within 24 hours.
In other words, if you can not re-create the bug on demand, finding a way
to eliminate it every time is almost as good.
