What does pointcast do that the MBONE can't? I mean I know that the
MBONE is the multicast network layer, but what video and audio standards
are currently being pushed over it? Are they open? Can't they be
improved?

I bet an open source solution, with ports to other OSs, would fair well
in the commercial world (as well as apache). The broadcasters don't want
to pay royalties to Pointcast Inc..

Just an opinion.
