It contains the string "-- ", but not as the entire text of a line (or even
the beginning of a line). My program doesn't match "-- " anywhere; it must
be a full line (regexp "^-- $").
AFAIK essentially all mailers at one tiem used the "-- " convention. "fuit,
fuit ista quondam..."
