Static routing is where routes are added either manually or by script and
do not change. Dynamic routing is where a computer running a routing
protocol can can exchange information with other hosts or routers and
add/delete/change routes based on that constant exchange of information.

Shielded Twisted Pair.

It is a token ring protocol using fiber-optic cable. There is a copper
equiv. called CDDI but it is not in much use anymore. The only difference
is the tranciever on the module. I have two of them here that I can not
use because there is no driver for Linux.

CSMA is Computer Simulation Modeling and Analysis. Got no idea what the
other things have to do in that context. They must have a CDROM with some
program. Token passing would be a method of communicating a larger idea
with only a small packet of data, a token. For example, if 0x00 was a
codeword or token that ment "Print out the help menu". I could pass just
that token and the machine at the other end would know what that ment.
There are other contexts for token as well, such as in FDDI token-ring
networks. Then agian, toke'n passing used to be a popular pastime at rock
concerts in the '60's and '70's. Hard to tell what they were talking
about.
