Couldn't agree more. No need for yet another newsgroup.

I setup a news server on a PC which caries all (!) news with files that
are less than 70k and see what I get:

/dev/hdc1            7909568 2292077  5207434     31%   /var/spool/news
/dev/hdd1            7912497 2857019  4645274     38%
/var/spool/news/alt/binaries

  3:43pm  up 11 days,  4:35,  0 users,  load average: 4.49, 4.32, 4.28

Expiration time I use is less than a week for alt.binaries and about 2
weeks for the rest.

I rarely read news groups anymore with the exception of linux related
stuff and occasionaly one soc.culture which is not much more than blaming
each other for that or the other political problem in the world.
