It is huge, and pretty bloated, but it seems a bit faster than the previous
versions. Looking at the process table once SO5 is loaded, it appears to
require more resources than the previous version, but it doesn't swap
as much on my system as the previous version. Still, 48 megs is just
about borderline for something like this. 

I've been able to run Word (not 97) or Excel in less RAM than that,
usually with better results. What gives?

Corel is going to be giving away "personal edition" copies of WP soon (this
may just be the WP, not the whole suite. I tried out WP 8 on Linux and it
works a lot faster. I haven't tried importing word 97 stuff, as I don't have any
samples to try, and the few Word/Excel stuff I have access to here are for
earlier versions.

I have heard that SO requires *large* amounts of RAM/swap space to do
imports -- one person said that it took 3*128 mb swap files just to bring in
a 300+ page document.

But, the install is so much cleaner and easier. I'm still having trouble
getting it to register, though.
