Please read http://egroups.com/list/svlug/6915.html, which was my
reply to a very similar query, recently.

That question concerned a different video card, but the general method 
by which an X Window System support question can be resolved is 
exactly the same in both cases.  (Please note that, in addition to 
determining the video chipset, it'll also be a big help if you can
figure out how much video RAM the card has.)
