[svlug] Drive problems?

I have a K6 machine partitioned as follows:

hda1 - Win98
hda2 - Linux 1 running Linux Pro with 2.0.35
hda3 - Linux 2 RH 5.1 - 2.0.34
hda4 - Swap - used for both Linux partitions.

1,2, and 3 are all appr 2gb

Note also that the Linux partition not currently booted is mounted on the
partition that is and that the dos partition is mounted on both.

On a random and sporadic basis, messages appear along the lines of

hda: dma_intr: status 0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}
hda: dma_intr: error 0x84 { BadSector DriveStatusError }, LBAsect 9386465,
sect=229410

After a series of this sort of message, it usually comes back with:

hda: disabled dma
ide0: reset:  success

fsck has not found a problem nor are there any other apparent problems with
the system.  The only other thing I can think of is that booting takes a
couple of minutes to get past amd - but there are no NFS mounts.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?
