Yup, and the namager screams "YOU DID WHAT?, GET THAT MACHINE OFF OF MY
NETWORK ***>> N O W <<***. And by the way, pack your things, you are outta
here."

The trouble is that FUD is very effective in today's IT environment
because the technology has advanced so far beyond the average manager's
skillset that they fear ANYTHING that might screw up the CEO's email. They
do not want to see how reliable it is, they want to be assured ahead of
time, in major industry press, that it is safe. In shops where the
management has some technical savvy, Linux has no problem, they understand
that it is ok. The degree of Microsoft penetration into an IT shop is
usually inversely related to the technical skills of management. 

Managers without technical skills go with Microsoft like people that can't
read go for picture books.
