[svlug] Permissions! :(

hmm something happened and now my permissions are screwed up. I have
tried a lot of things. root has no problems but all other users have
problems. i have a averages user called coldsun. when i su to coldsun
it says that it cant run /bin/bash. well when i login as coldsun it
says it cant execute /bin/bash. Finnally after much trial and
tribulations i did a chmod 755 /bin. that gave coldsun enough so he
could get logged in. now he cant do anything. i tried typing 'clear'
'bitchx' everything. but it all says bash: cant find command. What is
up?

I must have done something stupid while logged in as root or something
but i cant remember it. is there any way to get my old settings back?

BTW: i am running debian 2.0 if that effects any answers or procedures.
