heh well, I read this article on slashdot today from Karl Fogel, that was
like
way cool :)

Concerning the news.com article on MS, I just say : well no one has entered
that area, so MS has no clue since they cannot use other people' technology
yet, so Gates can't innovate yet, first has to see the technology before he
can supposedly invent it :)

Concerning linux distributions, I am totally for different versions, I did
not
mean to say : there should be only one flavor ! :) but I just think that the
current distributions for the average person are still too complex, and the
effort is there to make linux user-friendlier *well...*... but it is still
tough on install (hardware config), and kernel compile... Maybe we (or
someone) should really look into a wizard like config for the kernel, like
have a db with all the drivers and have a probe-devices so that we can do
that. this can be for any distribution... right... but anyways. I think it
would bring things closer... to make it a main-stream OS we have to start
hiding a lot of stuff and automate it. It all really depends on where we
want
to position the OS... Mainstream or hacker community or hacker + some Comp
literate people...

re HP: well they might still have unix believers (the pa risc is a wonderful
cpu and can handle good load.. hp-ux was not bad... (rather stable)... but
if
one group says : hp is going towards |NT and the other group says : we're ==
unix, then uhmmm something is still wrong within the company...
