[svlug] What would you buy?

Hey everyone!

I have $3000 and need some ideas on where to buy a new system. So,
where would you go to buy a network-ready computer which is made
primarily for LINUX and a 21" monitor with this budget limit? Would you
go with several companies and buy the parts separately? Or would you
just settle with a Micron-like company and have them build it? I dealt
with Gateway when they built my PentiumPro system and think that I can
do better with my money elsewhere.

I am new to the area and think that there has to be a Silicon Valley
company which has a better deal. After reading the Computer Shopper for
a week, I am a bit overwhelmed. So I am turning to you for some advice.
See you at the next SVLUG meeting!

Thanks in advance,

Vance Eschenburg
