[svlug] Some pointers pls

Hi there,
I'm a novice (do I hear aww! we have too many of'em :-)) in developing
applications on Linux.
I intend to develop & maintain a simple web site: a searchable database
of resources for my non-profit org for people w/ disabilities.
I need to know what tools I need for writing the interface, web servers
& the database, in short, everything.
Any pointers to web sites, FAQs would be appreciated very much.

PS The Red Hat 5.0 release claims to have all the necessary tools
bundled. That true?
