Concerning the new sun machines...
The problem with the new sun line is that they Are rather low-end, only 8 bit
graphics, 33mhz pci bus. The cpu is awesome but I would like to wait and see
what the total system performance is.
It's the same with the mac boards, they are ppc boards but the performance
isn't all that great, memory access is not so good on macs (probably changed
with the g3 but anyways).. It looks like a great deal, but first see...
The cool thing is, its affordable and I would love to try out ultra-penguin :)
Altho, the dalton series have pci and not sbus. So ultrapenguin will it work ?
not sure.
btw, I am new to this list since a few days, I finally had some time after
like 8 months to look for linux people in the bay area, I ve been on linux
since 0.12 or something, like way back :) Hopefully make it to a meeting
sometime !
Cheers,
Wim.
