Hey there, Linux guys and grrls...

Do you need a little bit of help with your latest Linux installation, or
know someone else who does?

Do you enjoy hanging out with fellow Linux geeks from all over the Bay
Area?

Do you enjoy spreading the word about Linux, or helping users of
proprietary systems upgrade to Linux?

If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions, then come on over to the
next Bay Area Linux InstallFest!

When:	Saturday August 29, 1998, from 10am to 4pm
Where:	Oakland Convention Center, 10th and Broadway

You will be able to get help from volunteers with, or can just meet and
chat with members from:

   Bay Area Linux Users Group
City College of San Francisco's Linux User Group
San Francisco PC Users Group's Linux SIG
   Silicon Valley Linux Users Group
UC Berkeley's Cal Linux Users Group

With the advice and experience of volunteers from no less than five user
groups, this will be the best opportunity for anyone in the Bay Area
seeking help with Linux.

This event is hosted by the Robert Austin Computer Show. Admission to the
Computer Show and the InstallFest is free. For directions, see:
http://www.robertaustin.com/direct.htm

This will be the fourth of a series of InstallFests held by this
consortium of Linux user groups in cooperation with the Robert Austin
Computer Show. The next InstallFest is scheduled for October 24th, back at
the Cow Palace.

Versions of Linux will be available on CD-ROM for installation by anyone
who does not already have a copy. CD-ROMs may also be purchased from
vendors at the Computer Show. A local area network will permit installation
across the LAN onto systems without a CD-ROM drive.

Are you interested in taking advantage of this opportunity to get help
with installation or configuration? Please RSVP by email to
<installers at hugin.imat.com>. For the best results at the installation,
the email should also include as comprehensive as possible a list of
the hardware of the particular computer system. Please go to
<http://members.tripod.com/~algolog/lnxchk.htm> for guidelines on creating
your own hardware list.

If you will be bringing any equipment or software, please label them with
your name before bringing it in. Be sure to get a sticker from the security
personnel for each piece before entering the Computer Show in order to
pass them back through the gate check on your way out, and don't forget to
bring your hardware list with you.
