[svlug] Linux seems to suck as an NFS server.

very well, try it on an Irix machine, a directory mounted from my linux
(RH5.1 with a downgraded nfsd)
sawdust# mkdir 1
sawdust# touch 1/1
sawdust# ls -l 1

-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 0 Aug 18 01:41 1

I did some very stupid things on it, trying to solve problems caused by
some other like-to-be-a-sysadmin guy (who no longer has the root password
ofcourse), and at the end, the only way to get out was to reinstall the OS
(major library mishmash). luckily upgrade path to 5.1 was almost painless
(except for the nfsd bug I just solved, and Amanda backup needs to be
recompiled I guess)

do NOT! I miss my 4.2 server already. and I regret having to upgrade it so
soon. 4.2 is the most stable version of RH to date and that's what I'll
stick to!
