hi ya
boy...this is endless....my last reply...hopefully...

as root, rm -f /etc/ld.so.cache~ and "reboot immediately"...

we keep telling you that you have a library problem if it is complaining
about libs.....the only lib problem I would tend to ignore is maybe the
motif libs....which can be verified w/ workman, mwm, xview, etc...
if those apps works, netscape-dynMotif should also work with the exception
of "new features" in the new motif libs.
J1> & j2> comes from two different emails
j1> Given both have image problems, but run otherwise, one would suspect
j1> it is an X configuration error. I will have to disassemble both machines
j1> to see which chipsets they use. (Not mentioned in notebook docs.)
hey...did you get the idea finally ?
look for exact information......datecodes, firmware versions,
PC-card -serial number, part numbers, bar-codes, etc
than go find that part in the hardware compatible list and the
laptop compatible list.
j2> (Laughing!) WHAT hardware documentation??? No-name clone boards,
j2> minimal user documents having not even chipset info, etc. Even the Canon
j2> brand notebook does not detail which Western Digital chips are used. How
j2> many of us have anything more than some simple sheets of paper telling us
j2> how to set the jumpers for various clock speeds and chip sets?
you have just confirmed that you cannot 100% guarantee that the chip set
in your video controllers ( laptop and desktop ) is supported by linux....
Until you take your machine apart and read the labels on the chips, I'd
like to suggest you stop "bothering" us with your netscape/lib problems
as we have already given you the best of our combined knowledge.
which I believe the others are correct in their assessments...
which you subsequently confirm...
Personally, I do NOT buy anything that does NOT have docs or original
wrappings...I want the original shrink wrap boxes too...to know that
they are not giving me a "used card"...though some stores like to
redo the shrink wraps...
your idea of rotating engineers to "tech support" etc is a good one...
and perhaps, it's now time for you to do the tech support work on your
own machine....before asking the same questions again ?
just my $0.02 worth...

BTW...for more entertainment....Don't even try to build an NT on a 486Dx2-66
with 48Mb of memory...still crashing....oh well....amazing...yeah...
I gotta waste my time...since customers tend to want to not buy new
computers and want to save/upgrade their old comps....like me too...
For the 10+hrs spent, it's cheaper to have bought a new Pentium-133/166...
but, it's only paper money in time......oh well....
guess that's good for "a paper Pentium computer"...
