you think that this list is a bad place to do that?  I realize that
this should not take the place already existing support channels.
However, why not allow any discussion on this list to exist?  Sure, we
set it up to talk about the group, but if I have a sendmail question,
and would like to ask it here, why not?  I would hope that no one
would answer my question, and I would go to the larger lists /
newsgroups.  

Running a svlug-support <?> list seems to be a bit redundant to me.

I would like to see how StarOffice works.  I have thought about
installing it myself, just never got around to it.
