Hmmm... that was the only comment? Maybe everyone's waiting for me to
respond to this point. :-) More likely everyone's just been busy.
But maybe if we're lucky it means there are no objections.
Anyway, among the groups involved in the speaker coordination now (SVLUG,
PenLUG, LUGoD, BALUG(?), and now BAFUG), we are all "POSIX-ish-specific"
as you called it. If we call it svspeakers.org or speakers.sbay.org,
that leaves it open for future widening of the scope should we get more
volunteers willing to handle that expansion.
There are several aspects of this I'm interested to know, mainly that this
effort to accomodate BSD groups doesn't step on any existing volunteers'
toes. For example...
* Marc maintains the MailMan server - and if he feels any personal attachment
to having the speakers list on his server, then let's create a new domain
so that it's still a virtual domain on his machine. But if he doesn't
care, then the new domain or subdomain hosting the list could be on either
his server or mine, for example.
* Steve and Joyce have been leading the speaker coordination since they used
to do all the work themselves for SVLUG. If they have a preference on this,
I'm interested to hear it. A meritocracy recognizes the hardest workers.
* Other volunteers who have joined the list since then (i.e. Ani, Bill W
Bill K, etc) may have preferences too.
If anyone has objections, that's the first thing I want to know. I'm sort
of tip-toeing around the fact that I don't know if anyone has concerns.
Respond in private if you don't feel comfortable saying so on the list.
If I don't hear any responses by tomorrow (Tuesday), I'll contact Steve/Joyce
and Marc to check how they'd like to proceed.
