[Speakers] BAFUG interested in speaker pool

Elliott Chuang (pronounced like Chung), coordinator of the Bay Area FreeBSD
User Group (BAFUG) cited the ability to cooperate on speakers as a big draw
for BAFUG joining as a SIG of sbay.org. (Above the kernel level, Linux and
the *BSDs run the same software. So for non-kernel software talks, we're
interested in most of the same topics.) And we already have participation
from PenLUG and LUGoD on the speakers list.
I'd like to float the idea of either moving the speakers list to sbay.org
or create a new domain for it. The thought behind that is to be inclusive
of the BSD folks, to make it an Open Source groups effort and not just
Linux-specific.
I'd like to find something less of a mouthful than the Silicon Valley
Open Source Speaker Coordinators, but that's the idea. Maybe do like
sbay.org and just call it by a domain name. svspeakers.org isn't taken.
Or it would be trivial (and free) to create a subdomain speakers.sbay.org.
Actually, no one asked me to do this. Elliott was often mixing up sbay.org
and SVLUG while promoting the idea to his group to join sbay.org. So the
affiliation with Linux groups obviously is not an issue. But now that
BAFUG has stuck their neck out to join with us, I'd like to make an effort
to welcome and include them as equals. I'd like to make sure this works
for all of us for the long term.
Any thoughts or comments?
