[Speakers] Oct 2003 meeting - set up related questions

[Aniruddha Mulay]

Hello,

This is regarding the October meeting.

Nick Glassman at Digeo asked :

>> Can you confirm the following with him:
>>
>> o There will be an ethernet connection to a DHCP network
>> o The TVs will have s-Video in

I believe, ethernet connection to a DHCP network should be
available but I'm not sure about TV and s-Video.

Can somebody familiar with Cisco setup comment on that asap ?
Also, by any chance would a live cable feed be available ?
----

Earlier, Gina Aumiller at Digeo had sent me an e-mail
inquiring about the meeting and I have answered most
of the questions.

> Where is the meeting?

Place : Cisco Building 9, San Jose.
             The land of NUMBERS.
             The VINEYARDS conference center.
Directions : www.svlug.org/directions/cisco-9.shtml

> What time should we be there for set-up?

The speakers are there around 6:30 pm for the setup.

> What is the flow of the meeting?

Meeting time : 7-9 pm or so.

o The meeting usually starts around 7pm with a few initial
announcements - other events of interest, speaker introduction etc.

o Main Topic / Presentation
   7:15 - 8:45 pm or so.
the structure of the talk is entirely up to the speaker

   Talk -> Demo -> Question / Answer

   OR

   Interactive Session [ Talk + Question / Answer ] -> Demo

o Wrap up announcements, door prizes, if any.

After the meeting folks usually meet for dinner at The IHOP near
Mission College Blvd & Great America Pkway.

> Equipment- We will need a TV and broadband connection using DHCP for
> the demo. For the presentation, we will need an LCD projector.

>From what I know, broadband connection with DHCP, LCD projection etc.
is available. Users can connect laptops running Linux / Windows m/c.

Usually there are 2 large screens [ ~15 sqft ].
The conference rooms can host about 200 people.

> If there is someone else that I should call directly on this, please
> advise.

Q. Do we need a live cable feed for the demo ?

Let me know and I will send an e-mail to inquire about TV, cable feed
etc.

Regards,

(Ani)ruddha Mulay
