I would be in favor of using speakers at svlug.org for coordinating
speakers for other LUGs in addition to SVLUG. I see no conflict; in
fact, with a wider net, we should be able to pick up better speakers
that way. We'd need to either do confirmations for other LUGs out of
band, or modify the protocol to add a LUG prefix to "CONFIRMED" etc.

This in effect sets up a "Linux and Open Source Speakers' Bureau" for
the Bay Area, and helps integrate the LUGs better. This can only be
good for SVLUG, Silicon Valley, and the open source community.

The final word should be up to Don. Does anyone else have anything to
add, pro or con?

Grab the Infiniband guy -- it's interesting stuff. Make sure to tell
him it's a new LUG, very small audience, etc. Otherwise, pick up
someone who we've confirmed for SVLUG but isn't speaking for a few more
months, or look back through past postings in the Speakers archives; you
should be able to find a few speakers that way.
