Hi All!
First, I want to congratulate you all. Opening up the speakers list and
turning the Speaker Coordinator's job into a "Program Committee" of
sorts seems to be working -- we're booked until November.
I suppose this should not have been a surprise; all we've done is
open source (open org?) the coordination of speakers.
Now that we have a comfortable cushion in the schedule, and to address a
hole in the protocol, I've added a PROPOSED phase; see the three
PROPOSED paragraphs in http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/speakers.
In a nutshell, this adds an RFD-like discussion phase and helps people
understand how they gain the authority to schedule speakers. This might
have prevented Paul's uncertainty (below), for example.
Paul, if you haven't figured it out yet, because you joined the speakers
list, you *are* the contact. ;-) Go read the PROPOSED paragraphs in
http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/speakers, and execute; you might
be the first person to test the new protocol version.
