To celebrate some exciting new open source
<http://otn.oracle.com/tech/linux/open_source.html> additions to our
Linux center <http://otn.oracle.com/linux/>.
OTN has decided to sponsor some of the top linux user groups in the
states...
* OTN <http://otn.oracle.com/> would be interested in sponsoring the
Silicon Valley Linux User Group
with:*
- *a credible guru speaker from Oracle's Linux Development team*
- the latest Oracle9i Software:
JDeveloper
<http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/jdev/content.html>
Oracle 9i AS Containers for J2EE ( OC4J
<http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/> )
Oracle 9i AS Toplink
<http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/toplink/content.html> - persistence
software
Oracle 9i AS Webcache
<http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/web_cache/> - caching software for Linux
Oracle9i Database
<http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/> on Linux
- pizza etc.
*
Here is a partial list of some of the topics in which we could field
Linux Gurus:*
* *Clustering with Firewire
* *Make managing RAW files obsolete by using OCFS
<http://otn.oracle.com/tech/linux/open_source.html>*
* *Creating a Java development environment using Open Source Tools and
JDeveloper on Linux.*
- Have you just finished installing a Linux distro and are now ready
to start coding?
Learn how easy it is to install Sun's J2SDK 1.4, the Jakarta
Project's Ant, CVS, Oracle9i JDeveloper,
and check out some open source projects from SourceForge.
* *Migrating from Windows to Linux*
- Finally decided to kick the Windows habit? Learn how to migrate
your Java project from your Windows machine to Linux.
We'll also cover setting up Linux to log into a Windows Domain and
share files via SAMBA with other Windows clients.
Finally we'll show several ways of easily importing source code from
the file system into Oracle9i JDeveloper.
* *Removing the Single Point of Failure - Network & I/O Failover.*
**NIC Failover** allows a user to set up network card failover on
linux. Oracle's Linux team has used this proof of concept code to test
Oracle's Real Application Clusters.
**I/O Failover** no single point of failure for disk IO using the
linux multipath driver. This ensures that you can use 2 fibrechannelcards
(or more) and if 1 card or switch fails, it will still go on.
* *Linux kernel tuning for Oracle*
- Best Practises for Memory management, I/O setup, ... by Oracle's
Linux development team.
Please let me know at your earliest convenience,
as I am currently scheduling Oracle's envolvement with Linux User groups
for 2003.
I can send you an abstract from the appropriate guru once I receive your
topic interest(s).
thanks
- Todd
